Q. What is the best way to protect my property from Termites?

Apart from your regular Visual Termite Inspections that we recommend be carried out at least on an Annual basis – Treating your property with one of McKenna Pest Control’s certified Termite Management Programs is the best way to protect your home or business from Termite Ingress. Considering every property is different, a qualified technician will visit your premises to assess the situation, discuss Treatment recommendations & present a written Termite Treatment proposal for your consideration.

Q.Does the Termite Treatment process require an alteration to my property?
A. Treatment processes may require drilling holes through concrete paths, tiles, or pavers to inject Termiticide. If drilling is required, holes are placed approximately 300mm from the edge of the building and are drilled at 150-200mm intervals according to AUS Standards. All holes are resealed once Termiticide has been injected. Chemicals may also be placed directly into the ground through trenches around the perimeter of the premises.
Q.Will I receive a Free Service Period on my Termite Treatment?
A. Yes – In most cases a 60 months free service period is offered in conjunction with a “Full and Complete Termite Management Program,” unless a technician feels that it is not an available option due to the building’s construction or according to the treatment plan.
Q.Will my Termite damaged timbers be replaced?
A. Unfortunately both your normal household insurance policy and McKenna Pest Control do not personally repair or replace Termite damaged timbers. However, we are able to offer you a 5yr Timber Secure Insurance Policy through our Insurance Company–Rapid Solutions that will cover the repair and/or replacement of both structural and/or decorative timbers up to a value of $100k at a Cost $360.This Policy can only be offered in conjunction with a Full and Complete Termite Management Program–T&Cs Apply.
Q.Do you offer finance terms?
A. McKenna Pest Control does not provide finance options.
Q.Do you offer warranties on your products or services?
A. Yes! In Association with the chemicals Manufacturers, we are able to offer their respective warranties depending upon the Termiticide applied and the length of Free Service Period given.
Q. Why is termite control important?
A. Underground termites are active throughout Australia. You cannot see them, in fact you rarely hear about them, but termites cause more damage to homes each year than floods, fires and storms combined. According to the CSIRO 1 in 5 homes will encounter termite damage. Termites cause $750 million damage per annum Australia wide.
Q. Is termite damage covered by home insurance?
A. No, it is not. Most home insurance policies specifically exclude damage from termites. So you will have to pay for damage caused by termites. Remember the average cost for repairs for termite damage is approximately $7,000. This is why having regular termite inspections and treatments is so important.
Q. How do termites behave?
A. The termites that cause most damage to homes live underground. Their food is cellulose in its many forms. In natural conditions that means trees. Termites search underground for food - old wood or old trees or get into the roots of new or dead standing trees and into their core. It is during that search that termites find your home. The danger is always from underground.
Q. What sort of damage do termites cause?
A. Termites will attack any material containing cellulose, which is generally found in timber. Termites will enter a house unseen and will attack and destroy timber wall frames, roof timbers, bathroom cabinets, kitchen cupboards, timber door frames, electrical wiring, carpets and even furniture and books.
